Friedrich Robert STRIEKERT known as Robert was born in Vehlefanz, Germany,
(located about 15 miles nortwest of Berlin) on July 19, 1851. Robert's father was
Christian Friedrich STRIEKERT born in Brunne, Germany, on November 28, 1823
and his mother was Marie Wilhelmina Emilie BLANK born in Fehrbellin, Germany,
on July 07, 1829.

Robert arrived in New Orleans aboard the SS 'Hannover' from Bremen, Germany,
on 12/15/1879 and was 28 years old. On the ships record he was listed as a
Kaufmann (Merchant) as his profession.

He had one brother and six sisters. None of this sisters or brother came to America.
His parents owned a small store in Vehlefanz and he would be sent on errands into
the city of Berlin. He said he remembered the great Linden trees arching over the road.
As a teenager he worked in a delicatessen in Vehlefanz or Berlin and from this source
he evidently developed a liking for gourmet food which preparation he became
an expert.

He came to Round Top, Texas and boarded with August SOMMERFELD and his wife
Emilie who also came from Vehlefanz. Emilie (known as Tante Sommerfeld) was the
sister of Henry WEIDENBAUM, (Auguste WEIDENBAUM's father). Robert moved
to Brenham and became a cotton buyer, and owned a brick yard (only one that ever
existed in Brenham).

In 1882 Robert STRIEKERT married Auguste WEIDENBAUM.
They lived in Brenham the rest of their lives exept for one year in San Antonio.
Robert und Auguste had 11 children, four of which died as children from diphtheria.
Ella STRIEKERT (the oldest) married Robert JANKE,
Clara STRIEKERT married Lorenz August ZEISS,
Agnes STRIEKERT married Henry MÜLLER,
Elise STRIEKERT married Charles E. WIEDE,
Gertrude STRIEKERT married Albert W. HARTSTACK Sr,
Roy STRIEKERT married Hattie WITTBECKER,
