Margaret KLEIN Sommerfield was my mother Eva KLEIN's half sister. They had the same father, but different mothers. Margaret's mother's name is unknown.

August Sommerfield born in Berlin, Germany, married Mary HESSE born in Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio. Had a son William F. SOMMERFIELD born November 26, 1879.

Parents of Margaret KLEIN are Henry KLEIN and Elisabeth nee MEISER.

Henry KLEIN was born in Ockstadt (near Friedberg / Bad Nauheim) in Hessen, Germany. He married Elisabeth MEISER on 13 MAY 1884 in Manhattan, New York. His parents are Wilhelm KLEIN and Gabriele nee DIONST.

Your message contained information I did not have regarding my Aunt and Uncle Sommerfield and my grandfather, Henry KLEIN. Records from the orphanage where my mother, Eva KLEIN, was placed stated Henry came from Frankfurt, Germany.

I did not have the dates you gave me and I did not know his parents' names, so I was happy to receive this information.

May I ask what records you found this information ?

I have very little information regarding Henry KLEIN. He settled in Crab Orchard, Kentucky, USA approximately 1884 and farmed land he rented. He became ill and returned to Germany, leaving his wife and children in Kentucky. He had a heart attack and died on the ship or as he was getting off the ship. That is all I the information I have.

I regret I do not speak German. My husband's family name is Olbermann and we both studied French in school and now only remember two or three words!
