I was born May 18,1951 at Edmonton. My sister is Lorraine ROSS
born April 17, 1951 at Edmonton. She is living in Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA.
My mother is Lydia SOMMERFELD born March 13, 1928 Woodbend, Alberta

My grandfather was Hugo SOMMERFELD
born May 12, 1899 Polichno, Province of Piotrkowskie, Poland.

My great grandfather was Leopold SOMMERFELD
born May 23, 1867 Meszcze, Province of Piotrkowskie, Poland.

My great great grandfather was Joseph SOMMERFELD
born Sept 19, 1818 at (spelling not clear, maybe Benczkowice).
It is located either in Province of Piotrkowskie or by Posen
in Province of Poznanskie (formerly part of Germany).
My great great great grandfather was Michael SOMMERFELD
believed to have been born near Posen (Germany ) in the late 1700's.

The first Sommerfeld's in North America went to Texas. After that,
Sommerfeld families went to Alberta, Saskatchewan, Montana,
North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota.
Some of the records were lost in the American Civil War (1861-1865).

Deine Mail im Sommerfeldforum über die Sommerfelds Deiner Familie
habe ich gelesen. In den letzten Tagen habe ich Interessantes herausgefunden.

Zu meiner Familie:

Meine Mutter, Hildegard geborene PINNO, ist 1939 in Wolhynien geboren.
Ihr Vater war Gottfried PINNO,
geboren am 04. Dezember 1912 auch in Wolhynien.
Dessen Vater war Andreas PINNO, geboren am 29. Dezember 1873
in der Nähe von Rawa bei Petrikau (Polen).
Er war verheiratet mit Pauline geb. HOFFMANN,
geboren am 20.03.1880 in Wolhynien.
Ihre Eltern waren Gottlieb HOFFMANN und Juliane geb. SOMMERFELD.
Sie ist am 03. August 1852 in Meszcze bei Petrikau geboren
und am 21. November 1894 in Wolhynien gestorben.
Sie war sicher die ältere Schwester Deines Urgroßvaters Leopold Sommerfeld.

Kennst Du Pinno`s in Edmonton ? Ein Bruder meines Urgroßvaters
Gottlieb Pinno und ein Bruder meines Großvaters Oskar Pinno
gingen nach Kanada, und deren Verwandtschaft lebt noch da.

Ich freue mich auf Deine Antwort.

Irmgard, yes I think there was an Olga Sommerfeld in the 1800's, but I do not know if it was around Petrikau
(Piotrkow) or Lodz (Litzmannstadt). I wonder if you are looking for Olga SOMMERFELD geborene SCHMALTZ.
Also note that Sommerfeld is spelled Zomerfeld in Polish. Also note that my great great great grandfather
Michael SOMMERFELD married Anna Eleonore SCHMALTZ.

Also, I want to tell everyone that my cousin Emil BRUMMER ( - He died in Edmonton. - ) told me
that the Sommerfeld families by Petrikau were *cousins* of the Sommerfeld families in Lodz.
Also, Emil told me that one of Leopold Sommerfeld's brothers took his family from Meszcze to Berlin, Deutschland.
We lost contact with them. Emil Brummer's mother was Lydia (Lidia) BRUMMER geborene Sommerfeld.
Lidia Sommerfeld's brother was Leopold SOMMERFELD, my great grandfather.
Emil Brummer's told me that his grandfather Jakob BRUMMER made it to one hundres and four years of age.
He was only a few months shy / short. I recall that Jakob BRUMMER died at age one hundred and three (103).
Jakob Brummer got very very old, and he may have come from Bremerhaven, Deutschland. However, we are
not positive where Jakob came from. We also know that the Lodz and Meszcze Sommerfeld's probably came from
the Posen area near Schokken (Skoki), and before that from the German coast, possibly Schleswig-Holstein area
or the area by Holland (Niederland). However, we are not sure.

Also, Michael SOMMERFELD (my g. g. g. grandfather) was probably born near Lodz or in the Posen area,
maybe about 1800 or just before that. I also know that Friederich (spelling?) Wilhelm SOMMERFELD,
born about 1801 or 1803, was living at Lodz, and that he was the son of Andreas SOMMERFELD
married to Anna Eleonore ADOLPH. Andreas SOMMERFELD and Anna Eleonore ADOLPH were married
April 30, 1793 at Schokken.

There was also a Joseph SOMMERFELD living at Meszcze, and he was born about 1765 or 1771.
He knew the Sach's and that is very interesting. Where was he born ?

Michael, Irmgard, or Dieter, do you have any information about him ?

This is _not_ my g. g. grandfather Joseph SOMMERFELD (1818-1903)
who was the sheepherder and farmer in the Petrikau area.

ich habe eine Kombination PINNO / HILLER in der Ahnenreihe meiner Frau,
und zwar JOHANN PINNO verheiratet mit ANNA ELISABETH HILLER
(* err. 1765) am 09.07.1783 in Santomichel, Kr. Schroda.

Ich habe auch eine Verbindung zwischen JOHANN HILLER (* err. 1809 Dombrowa)
und ANNA DOROTHEA BAUM verw. SOMMERFELD (* 1805 Labedz / Kolo).

Mich interessiert insbesondere die Linie HILLER.
